Numerous studies have been  conducted throughout the past century, which demonstrate the effectiveness of copper alloys in minimizing the presence of E. Coli, Influenza A,  Staphylococcus, and other microorganisms.  Studies also show that ‘tarnishing’, or what we refer to as patina, has little to no effect on these antimicrobial properties.  That is, so long as hardware touch-points are not lacquered or painted.  As you know, we at SA Baxter love-love brass and bronze finishes and they way these finishes age so gracefully.  The added benefit of these antimicrobial properties gives us all the more reason to love our brass, bronze, and copper finishes.
